Some dolls are themed for particular fantasies.
Usually the theme is provided by a bit of clothing (such as a maid’s outfit). Sometimes it is provided by an extra feature (such as Apple Pie flavored lubricant). In some cases, the theme exists only in the naming of the doll and the images on the box.
It is less expensive to purchase themed costumes and clothing for an ordinary doll than to buy an otherwise ordinary doll with a bit of cheap costuming.
